Hanoi pilots EHR platform | Health IT News
A platform for creating, viewing and sharing electronic health records has been launched in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
On June 28, the city rolled out its EHR platform. According to a state media The platform reportedly allows authorities, including doctors, to access the health information of individual patients, who also have the option to share or not share their records.
This deployment took place after synchronizing the health records of more than 1.2 million Hanoi residents on the VNeID electronic identification application.
THE BIGGER CONTEXT
Vietnam begins to authorize digitizing health records in public health facilities in 2019. By last year 2023, EHRs had been deployed in major hospitals. From now until 2028, all health facilities and hospitals in Vietnam are expected to convert from paper records to electronic records.
Last year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health issued a decision to deploy the Vietnam EHR Platform, which complies with the HL7 FHIR interoperability standard.
Hanoi is currently exploring options to enable the sharing of people’s health information with an AI-driven Smart Health Operations Center. As part of the digital transformation of the health system, the city government also plans to deploy big data, AI and analytical models to analyze and evaluate disease situations and trends.
