2024 Open Championship odds, picks, props, lineups: Surprising golf picks from model that has called 13 majors

After dropping to 20th in the Official World Golf Rankings at the start of the season, Collin Morikawa has climbed to sixth place thanks to his stellar play over the past three months. He now heads into the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon with plenty of momentum after finishing T4 at the Scottish Open last week, his ninth consecutive start in which he finished T16 or better. Morikawa is a two-time major champion, including a victory at the 2021 Open Championship at Royal St. George’s Golf Club. Morikawa is 10-1 for the 2024 Open Championship.

Scottie Scheffler has six wins on the season and will be looking for his third major championship win at Royal Troon. He is a 4-1 favorite in the 2024 British Open betting odds. Before locking in your 2024 Open Championship picks or making golf picks on sites like PrizePicks, Pick6, DraftKings or FanDuel, make sure See golf predictions and projected rankings from proven computer models at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS expert Mike McClure, has been incredibly popular since the PGA Tour resumed play in June 2020. In fact, the model has raised over $9,000 on the best bets since the restart, winning every tournament.

The model has also won 13 majors this weekend, including the 2024 Masters, its third consecutive Masters, and this year’s PGA Championship and US Open. Anyone who has followed the model has seen huge returns.

Now that the 2024 Open Championship has been determined, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results are surprising. Visit SportsLine now for projected standings.

Top Predictions for the 2024 Open Championship

One big surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Open Championship: Ludvig Aberg, one of the top 9-1 favorites, has stumbled and fallen far out of the top five despite being ranked as low as third. He is a golfer who will fade in the 2024 Open Championship bets.

The 24-year-old Swede led Sunday at the Scottish Open last week before a fourth-round 73 knocked him out of the race. His second-place finish at this year’s Masters suggested he was close to breaking through at this level, but he also missed the cut at the PGA Championship and finished T12 at the US Open. With the 2024 British Open full of proven major winners, the model doesn’t like the value of Aberg as one of the favorites. See who else to fade here.

Another surprise: Hideki Matsuyama, a 40-1 underdog, has made a strong run to win the British Open. He has a much better chance of winning than his odds suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a big payday. Despite being just 32, Matsuyama has been a professional for more than 11 years and is an 18-time winner worldwide. Nine of those wins have come on the PGA Tour, including a major championship win at the 2021 Masters.

Matsuyama, currently ranked 14th in the Official World Golf Rankings and eighth in the FedEx Cup standings, shot a stunning final-round 62 to win the feature event at the Genesis Invitational. He tied for sixth at the US Open and tied for 13th at last year’s Open Championship. He missed the cut at the 2016 Open Championship, but that experience at Royal Troon could pay dividends this week as he seeks his second major championship. See who else to support here.

How to Pick the 2024 Open Championship

The model also has three other golfers at odds of 20-1 or better making a strong run for the title. Additionally, McClure’s best bets include a triple-digit underdog. Anyone who backs these long shots could be in for a big win. You can only see the model options here..
