KPDN to meet oil and gas companies this week to implement faster SKDS fleet card mechanism for diesel subsidy

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will meet with five major oil and gas companies on Thursday, July 18 to determine a faster mechanism to issue fleet cards to eligible applicants for the Subsidized Diesel Control System (SKDS). Bernama reported.

KPDN Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the ministry has noted delays in approving fleet card applications by companies, especially the post-paid card type, as oil and gas companies have to check the financial status of applicants first.

“For this reason and other issues, some fleet card applications take up to a month to be approved. So we want to see if the fleet card can be issued. [more quickly, perhaps] in less than 14 days,” Armizan said. Based on records collected from five oil companies as of July 8, a total of 165,897 fleet cards have been issued, he added.

Last week, The ministry has urged oil and gas companies to speed up the issuance of fleet cards. for eligible owners of logistics vehicles approved under the Subsidized Diesel Control System (SKDS) program. The SKDS 2.0 program started in March this year.with nearly 200,000 public transport and freight vehicles has been approved for the program as of June 13.

Companies listed in 33 categories of freight and public transport can apply for the SKDS programme through the MySubsidi Diesel system managed by KPDN and completed applications can be approved immediately, Mr Armizan said.

As of July 14, a total of 248,887 public and freight transport vehicles involving 88,029 companies had had their diesel subsidy applications approved under the SKDS, he added.

“In addition to online applications, KPDN also promotes diesel subsidy applications through on-site outreach programs and facilitates companies to raise any queries and submit their applications,” Armizan said.
