The Colombian flag carrier is adding service to the Windy City. Starting in late October, Avianca will launch nonstop service to Bogota from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) after a five-year hiatus.
The move will mark the first time the Bogota-based airline has served the Chicago route since 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic. The airline will operate daily flights from O’Hare to its home base at El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogota.

Route details
Avianca will operate daily service between Chicago and the Colombian capital using Airbus A320 aircraft, with a total capacity of 180 passengers.
Here is the schedule:
- ORD-BOG — departs at 2:35 p.m., arrives at 8:25 p.m.
- BOG-ORD — departs at 7:00 am, arrives at 1:15 pm

Avianca currently serves 13 U.S. cities. That includes Chicago service, which it currently operates from Guatemala City — a route launched last winter.
Even before the announcement of this latest route, the airline’s total number of seats to the United States in 2024 was projected to increase by 27% compared to 2023 — and by nearly 38% compared to 2019, according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium.
