The winner of the 2022 National Dog Show is French Bulldog Winston : NPR

Winston, a cream French bulldog, took home the top honors at this year’s National Dog Show. The three-year-old beat out six other finalists for best performance at the annual event, hosted by the Philadelphia Kennel Club and aired by NBC on Thanksgiving Day. .
After being announced as the winner, Winston was lifted into the air by his manager and co-owner, Perry Payson, and spun on the royal blue carpet. There was a big cheer from the crowd. Winston showed a bright smile.
Payson then brought Winston to the audience so everyone could pet him.
“He walked up to people and they were like touching a movie star. We’ve never seen anything like it. It was a burst of applause.” Wayne Ferguson said, President of the Philadelphia Kennel Club.

Vicki Seiler-Cushman, the best judge on the show, said: “He is a show dog with personality, beauty and a perfect fit for the breed. “He had a brilliant display saying, ‘I’m here to win tonight.'”
Based on American Kennel Club, The French bulldog is the second most popular dog breed in America, behind only the Labrador retriever. Golden Retrievers are the third most popular.
Winston has several owners, including NFL player Morgan Fox, a defensive end for the Los Angeles Charger. He helped raise Winston as a puppy. One of the show’s announcers quipped that the small but muscular Winston “runs like a little road runner.”
Winston – whose registered show name is GCHP Fox Canyon’s I Won The War at Goldshield – has collected a number of titles over the years. This win marks his 78th best title on the show, do Winston #1 rated dog breed in the US
This year, the American Kennel Club approved three new breeds to compete in the National Dog Show: the Bracco Italiano, the Russian toy, and the mudi.
Winston won his non-athletic group before entering the final round. There he defeated an Americanordordshire terrier named Trouble from the hounds, Reus the Alaskan Malamute from the workgroup, Nate the Treeing Walker Coonhound from the hounds, Sloane the Irish water spaniel from the sports team, German River Shepherd from the hound group. the herding group and the British toy hound Cooper from the toy group.
Cooper won second place, called Best Reserve on the show.
After the excitement of today’s event subsided, Winston was seen enjoying some celebratory food served on a silver tray.
