Streaming Giant Netflix Acquires Cozy Grove Dev, “The Sixth Insider Game Studio”
Spry Fox, the Seattle developer behind Cozy Grove games, has revealed that it has joined Netflix to become the streaming giant’s sixth “in-house gaming studio”.
Cozy Grove is a Mule– the intriguing title was released on Nintendo Switch last April, and will be followed by a second game, possibly “late 2023”.
For Spry Fox, this new partnership means it can “continue to make games” as before, but with “more support and resources” to make them better, and release them to more people globally.
“We’re a studio dedicated to building world-class, original cozy games. Especially games that bring people together. And we’re confident that Netflix will help us do just that. there.”
It also eases the pressure to “make a profit” and is supposed to allow the team to make their games as enjoyable and satisfying for players as possible. The developer says it will also be able to tap “creators” in Netflix.
Spry Fox has reassured fans that all of their existing games will remain “downloadable and available in their current form on their current platforms”. For its future games like Cozy Grove 2 – no change in the company’s development efforts.
Netflix already has game studios like Next Games, Night School Studio, and Boss Fight Entertainment.
