Thompson stepped back and hit the gas to the line, taking home the first win. Wakamatsu kept her dough dry in second place, and Mie was able to collect and take third place.

Shinya Ezawa was able to take the precious fourth place and with the lead, with some clear air for the Japanese rookie.

Cameron Swain finished in a distant 17th place, nearly 17 seconds ahead of 16th-placed Thanakorn Lakharn.

Thompson was sixth in the standings after the opening race, Nikolis 11th and Swain 18th.
