Prince Andrew and his ex-wife will assume the Queen’s beloved corgis, upon the king’s death.

Queen owned more than 30 corgis and dorgis – a corgi dachshund mix – during her reign and was known for her love of animals.

Her newest pair, Muick and Sandy, was gifted to her by Duke of York last year.

A spokesperson for Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, confirmed they will take care of the dogs.

Sandy is the replacement for Fergus, who died at the age of 5 months in the aftermath of Prince Philipthe death of.

Fergus the dorgi – named after the Queen’s uncle, who was killed in the first world war – and Muick kept the king entertained after they joined her at Windsor during the lockdown .

Andrew bought both for his mother in early 2021.

Sandy’s subsequent appearance was a 95th birthday present from Andrew and princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Andrew was seen with his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie in Balmoral on Saturdayas they watched the tributes left to the Queen and thanked the wise men who came to pay their respects.

When asked by a sender how everything was, Andrew said: “We’ve been given a date, now we start the process of delivering her.”

Meanwhile, Sarah said the Queen was “the most incredible mother-in-law and friend” to her, and she will miss her “more than words can express”.

Most of the Queen’s corgis are descendants of her first corgi, Susan, who was given to her on her 18th birthday.

The Queen takes care of her own dogs as much as she can, and during weekends in Windsor, the corgis also go and live in her own apartment.

She feeds them whenever her busy schedule allows and also enjoys walking the dog.

The monarch has many, Princess Diana once described them as a “moving rug”.
