How important is image quality really?
Modern cameras and lenses deliver remarkably good image quality – levels that only a decade ago they could only dream of. And with those increased capabilities came increased standards and expectations. But at this point, how much image quality do we really need? This amusing video raises the question and examines a situation where footage might have taken precedence.
Coming to you from Jiggie Alejandrino, this thought-provoking video examines the question of what image quality we really need. I recall one of my first photo sessions. At that point, I’ll automatically delete any images where I’m not fully in focus. The client wasn’t particularly happy with what was left and asked me where many of the photos he knew he was smiling had gone to. I explained my reasons, but he asked to see them anyway, and he was immediately much more satisfied. He ended up choosing one where I barely lost focus; grind a little more so it’s close enough. Then I realized that there is a way a photographer sees images and a way a client sees them, and it was important for us to understand both, because technical perfection is what matters. far from everything.
