We have a somewhat strained relationship with the parties here at Jalopnik. We’re still mad at all of them for what they did to Andrew Collins a few years ago. We know that these machines can be super dangerous, but they can also be super fun. So keep them at arm’s length and don’t let them stab you in the back, and you’ll both come out on the other side a little happier.
So when I got a chance to test the fastest and most powerful device ever built [that’d be the Polaris RZR Pro R] I was cautious about accepting the offer. But here I am, ready to rip one of these wild machines through the desert somewhere outside of Las Vegas.
This new machine uses a massive two-liter two-liter naturally aspirated engine that makes 225 horsepower. The RZR Pro R also weighs just over 2000 pounds. So you can think of this as basically a Safari Honda S2000, but 800 pounds lighter and with 27-inch suspension. Basically, your domestic 4Runner can suck it, because this big machine is getting further, faster, and more fun.
I really don’t know what will happen today, but here I am, going into the desert this morning to see exactly what awaits me. Whatever comes next, wish me luck. If you don’t hear from me by tomorrow, send a search group. Or maybe not. Who knows, I may have loved it so much that I ran away with it to the wilds of Mexico never to be seen again. That might not be such a terrible existence. I will never have to hear the name Elon Musk again.
