Did you know that sometimes animals are used to make clothes?! Some materials of animal origin are wool (wool or lamb), skin (the skin of a cow, a pig, a goat or another animal), fur (the natural coat that grows out of an animal’s skin to keep it warm), or down (the soft coat found on the breasts of ducks or geese). Using these for clothes is not pretty. These animals are often kept in poor living conditions, kept in small cages, beaten or otherwise mistreated when handled, and then killed.
Animals such as cows, sheep, rabbits, coyotes, crocodiles, lizards, ducks and alpacas are susceptible individuals. They love to explore, spend time with their family, and are comfortable with the idea of a beautiful place — perhaps in a pond, on a warm lawn, or under a rock, for example.
Remind everyone around you that animals are our friends, not fabrics, by printing and coloring this color plate! Best of all, you can hang it on the fridge, send it to a family member, or put it in the front of a school brochure so more people see this wonderful, animal-friendly message.

Remember: There are many ways to keep your body warm without hurting animals. Be sure to shop vegan by checking the tags on the clothes before you buy. Look for good materials like Tencel, acrylic, hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, and pineapple skin!
