Who’s playing on ‘Thursday Night Football’ tonight? Time, TV channels, schedule for NFL Week 13

One of the weirdest “Thursday Night Football” games every year takes place the week after Thanksgiving. What’s strange about it? Normally, two of the six teams playing during the holiday go head-to-head in a second straight game on Thursday. This is the only time each year that this happens, as Thanksgiving is the only day many teams play on a Thursday.

So both teams are having equal rest. As such, there is no competitive resting advantage for either side. That will make this match stronger and the health of both teams will also improve.

The away team played into Thanksgiving without the top two receivers, but CeeDee Lamb (concussion) looks set to return this week. That should give the Cowboys a bit of a boost. However, they are dealing with a COVID outbreak among their employees, so Mike McCarthy will not be coaching this batch. That could hurt Dallas, especially since they are playing in a difficult position.

The Superdome has proven to be a hostile environment for opposing teams in recent years. The Saints may be struggling, but they are expected to make a change in midfield and will regain some key pieces from injury when fouled. That includes withdrawing Alvin Kamara, and he could be the difference-maker in this game.

Here’s everything there is to know about Thursday night’s game, along with everything you need to know to watch the first Week 13 game of the 2021 NFL season.

Who’s playing on ‘Thursday Night Football’ tonight?

  • Fit: Cowboys at Saints
  • Location: Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, La.

The Cowboys (7-4) are traveling to New Orleans to face the Saints (5-6) in “Thursday Night Football” in Week 13. Both teams lost on Thanksgiving, when the Cowboys lost in extra time 36. -33 before the Raiders while the Saints are packed by Bill 31-6.

Dallas is one of the best offenses of the league this year, but they have lost three of their last four games. The Cowboys’ only win came to the Falcons, and now they’ll have to navigate some tough waters on Thursday night.

CeeDee Lamb seems poised to return after a concussion knocked him out last week, but Amari Cooper (COVID) remains a question mark. Meanwhile, Mike McCarthy and several other members of the coaching staff have tested positive for COVID and they will miss the game. That could present problems for Dallas depending on whether the coach can play.

It is remarkable for Dallas that the Saints had to fight belatedly. They have lost four games in a row and have been battered in that time. The team are hoping Alvin Kamara can return this week along with the team’s right player, Terron Armstead. That should give the offense some extra punch.

That said, the biggest change could come in midfield. New Orleans can count on Taysom Hill after giving Trevor Siemian the backup job following Jameis Winston’s season-ending injury. Siemian had to struggle a lot and Hill fought to get the starting job during the camping period. He hasn’t played much in recent weeks because of a foot injury, but if he does, his mobility will make him more of a weapon than Siemian.

Both teams need to win here. The Cowboys need someone to stay in the race for the No. 1 seed and keep their distance from Washington’s burgeoning Team. The Saints need to win to stay in the Wild Card race.

NFL Week 13 Schedule

Game Saints vs. The Cowboys will begin Week 13 of the NFL action. “Monday Night Football” will feature the Patriots and Bills in Buffalo. This match will determine which team has a place in the next round for first place in the AFC East, although this year there are still two Patriots-Bills matches.
