Demetrius Andrade Vs. Jason Quigley Underlying results: Murodjon Akhmadaliev wins broad unanimous decision on Jose Velasquez
Murodjon Akhmadaliev openly admitted that he was devastated when he watched his good friend Bektemir Melikuziev lose by knockout. The 25-year-old super-middleweight contender was brutally knocked out by Gabriel Rosado in the third round earlier this year.
However, despite a lot of thoughts on his mind, Akhmadaliev suppressed the shocking results and focused on the task at hand.
In front of a rather large crowd at the SNHU Arena, in Manchester, New Hampshire, the Uzbek-born player took care of business ahead of his competitor Jose Velasquez.
Originally, the 27-year-old uniform featherweight champion was set to take on obligatory challenger Ronny Rios. However, in what has become the norm, Rios was forced to withdraw due to a positive COVID-19 test result.
However, even with only a few weeks left to work, Velasquez gave Akhmadaliev all he could handle. Despite some moments of success, Akhmadaliev eventually found his rhythm again before arriving at a unanimous decision victory.
