8-year-old Pokemon trainer sells card collection to save his puppy’s life

Update 6/2/2021 –

After 8-year-old Bryson Kliemann sold his Pokemon card to pay for his puppy’s medicine, the Pokemon company was moved. Most Pokemon fans won’t be willing to give up their precious possessions easily, so it says a lot about how much Bryson cares about his dog Bruce. So Pokemon sent Bryson some Pokemon decks and a copy of the Pokemon Battle Academy to make up for the decks he sold.

“Hey Bryson, we’re so inspired by your story about selling cards to restore your dog’s health, here are some cards to help you replace the ones you have to sell,” Pokemon wrote in a letter.

Right now, Pokemon cards are hard to find in stores due to popular demand. Stores like Target and Walmart even stopped selling them due to the outbreak of war. So this gift is extra special. Of course, there’s no better amount of Pokemon cards than having a healthy puppy.

“I’m happy he’s at home, and I’m proud of myself. Now my brother and sister are also playing with him, and now I actually play with him quite often,” Bryson said.

In the end, the Bryson family raised nearly $6,000 to treat Bruce’s parvo. Since that number is more than they anticipated, they will use the extra money to pay for Bruce’s future vaccinations and help other dogs in the community.

We all have passions in life. And for eight-year-old Bryson Kliemann, That’s Pokemon. He has a large collection of Pokemon cards including some valuable originals. Normally, he would refuse to give up his beloved collection, but Pokemon aren’t nearly as important as his puppy named Bruce.

When Bruce became seriously ill, the Bryson family couldn’t pay the vet bills. So, without hesitation, the boy decided to sell his precious possession to save his fluffy friend’s life. Thanks to the boy’s hard work, Bruce is living and doing better than ever.

A great sacrifice

Bryson was sorting through his Pokemon cards when he noticed that Bruce wasn’t acting like his usual pranksters. He hid in his crate and seemed lethargic. After visiting the vet, Bruce was diagnosed with parvo, a gastrointestinal disease that can be fatal to puppies if left untreated. But the treatment costs about $700, more than the family can afford.

“It makes me a little sad because usually my brother and sister play together and I have no one to play with. So I used to play with him,” Bryson said of Bruce.

Bryson refuses to let money problems end his best friend’s life. Pokemon cards are increasing in value recently and many stores are constantly selling them out. So Bryson set up a booth outside his house to sell his collection. Bryson’s dad sent a photo of the Pokemon card booth to the boy’s mother.

Bryson said: “I know everyone loves Pokémon cards so I decided to sell them.

Of course, the Bryson family didn’t want him to lose all of his beloved Pokemon cards. Bryson made $65 overnight selling the card, but then his family decided to figure out the rest of the costs themselves. Bryson’s mom has been sharing pictures of his booth on social media, and she’s done a GoFundMe to help raise the remaining payout.

Everyone quickly fell in love with the touching attempt to save the dog. So donations started pouring in like crazy. GoFundMe ended up raising $1,900, more than they expected. Thanks to all the generous people, Bruce was treated, and now he feels better than ever!

“I’m very happy because I really want to bring him back,” Bryson said.

Maybe Bryson could use the extra money to replace the Pokemon cards he sold. Or maybe the family will save it to make sure Bruce is safe for the rest of his life. After all, there is no bond quite like the one between a boy and his dog. And Bryson’s dedication shows it perfectly.
