49ers’ Ricky Pearsall shot during robbery; suspect arrested


SANTA CLARA, California — 49ers new recruit Ricky Pearsall Filmed on Saturday afternoon in downtown San Francisco.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed published on X that Pearsall was shot in the city’s Union Square area during a robbery. Breed added that the San Francisco Police Department responded to the scene immediately and the suspect was taken into custody.

ABC 7 San Francisco reports that Pearsall is in stable condition. 49ers teammate Deebo Samuel posted that “he’s good” in reference to Pearsall, and a team source confirmed to ESPN that Pearsall is expected to be fine.

The shooting happened at the corner of Geary and Grant streets, a block from San Francisco’s Union Square, with police responding to a 9-1-1 call at 3:38 p.m. local time. Pearsall had been signing autographs at an event center earlier in the afternoon and had gone to Union Square afterward, according to ABC 7.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, an altercation occurred between Pearsall and the suspect during the robbery and both were injured. Both Pearsall and the suspect were later taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

The Niners selected Pearsall with the 31st pick in the April NFL draft out of the University of Florida.
