2025 Nissan Patrol: ‘Bigger, bolder’ flagship SUV revealed as launch nears

New Nissan Patrol The launch is just weeks away, and the automaker has continued its gradual reveal campaign to whet fans’ curiosity.

Before the seventh generation Patrol Launched on September 4, 2024, Nissan’s Middle East division has released a new set of design images for the SUV, this time previewing the full-width taillights and taillights.

Not like Infiniti QX80Like the Patrol’s luxury twin, Nissan will use vertical taillights instead of horizontal ones, while the cluster that extends across the rear hatch appears to have less chrome detailing and just a badge that bisects the LED strip.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, Nissan’s senior vice president of global design, Alfonso Albaisa, said the new Patrol will be “bigger, bolder and more distinctive” than any model in the company’s history.

The video follows a series of teasers from earlier this month, which previewed the grille – ditching the current model’s thick chrome frame in favor of a honeycomb design.

Both the new Patrol and the North American Armada are expected to feature the same interior design, unlike current versions of the model, with right-hand drive models like those sold in Australia retaining the same cabin that’s been around for a decade.

The new Patrol was recently spotted testing in Australia, traveling in convoy with a current-generation model and a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series Sahara.

Like the Infiniti, the new Patrol is expected to be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, capable of producing 336kW of power and 698Nm of torque.

This engine will make 38kW more power and 138Nm more torque than the Patrol’s current naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V8, and 109kW more but 2Nm less than the 3.3-litre turbo-diesel V6 fitted to the LandCruiser 300 Series.

Nissan’s new engine will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission – instead of the current seven-speed – and come with the option of rear- or four-wheel drive, at least overseas.

It’s expected that the model will be four-wheel drive only in Australia, as it was sold exclusively with four-wheel drive in local showrooms for most of its run.
