2024 PGA Championship prize money, purse: Payments to Xander Schauffele, golfers from $18.5 million fund

The Wanamaker Trophy and substantial winner’s check were presented Sunday at Valhalla Golf Club to Xander Schauffele, 2024 PGA Championship champion. Increasing the purse for the PGA Championship by $1 million from a year ago, the PGA of America is offering the largest prize pool in its championship history with a total purse of $18.5 million .

A whopping $3.3 million will be awarded to Schauffele for scoring 21-under at Louisville with seven-figure sums awarded to golfers who finished on the podium but didn’t make the cut. tallest. Each golfer in the top 10 by the end of the championship will take home at least $500,000 and each golfer in the top 31 will receive a check for $100,000.

The payouts are down slightly from those awarded after the 2024 Masters – and from signature events on the PGA Tour – both of which held $20 million in purses. Scottie Scheffler won $3.6 million for winning his second green jacket, although it wasn’t even his biggest payday of the season as he won 4 million dollars at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and $4.5 million at the Players Championship.

Not only did those who got the weekend off from their time in Kentucky with a little green to show for it, but so did those who missed out. All players who play a total of 36 holes will receive $4,000 for their troubles. Considering how many PGA professionals are in the field, that’s not bad for two days of work.

Let’s take a look at the wallet breakdown of the PGA Championship.
