2024 Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri – 42 buses banned from operating; 6 drivers were banned from using banned substances
The 2024 deployment of Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri saw a total of 42 buses issued with Vehicle Prohibition Notices (PG1) due to breaches of technical regulations, Bernama reported. JPJ senior enforcement officer Datuk Lokman Jamaan said a total of 42 buses were screened out of the 3,799 buses inspected at 54 bus terminals and 28 bus terminals.
“All 42 buses were violating various dangerous technical defects and were not allowed to ply on the road,” Lokman said, adding that the bus operator had been banned from providing the service for passengers.
Action was also taken against the operators of 77 buses, of which 47 were issued summons for violations including not having the appropriate driver’s license (CDL), driver misconduct driver like using a cell phone and not having a second driver. Six bus drivers were also banned from driving on suspicion of using banned substances after failing a urine test.
“The bus operators will be summoned and a full investigation report will be submitted to the Road Public Transport Authority (APAD) for action under the Road Public Transport Act 2010. JPJ will also suspend the driving license under Section 36 of Act 333, Lokman said after further confirmation from the national anti-drug agency (AADK).
Meanwhile, 84 JPJ officers secretly traveled on buses and 62 violations including dangerous driving were recorded. Lokman, JPJ’s senior enforcement officer, said these undercover checks will continue until April 20, while strict enforcement will continue.
