2024 Audi Q5 spying for the first time


Audi preparing to reveal a new generation Q5 Mid-size luxury SUV.

The German carmaker tested in winter for the first time a camouflaged prototype at the same site, an all-electric RS Q6 e-tron prototype was also recently tracked down.

This new generation of Audi Q5 could be the final product with petrol and diesel engines, with the company intending to Stop selling internal combustion engine cars outside of China by 2033.

A reveal for this new generation Audi Q5 is expected to happen until 2023. A Sportback ‘coupe SUV’ version is also expected at some point.

Under the bonnet, a 48V mild-hybrid system will most likely come standard with both petrol and diesel powertrains, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is also expected.

It is understood that this next generation Q5 will use an updated version of the current version of the MLB Evo platform, just like the next generation Audi A4 which previously spying.

Looking at the spy shots, this Q5 prototype has a similar appearance to the SUV but appears to have a slightly longer wheelbase. This can lead to more passenger and cargo space.

There’s a redesigned front apron with two separate central air intakes, as well as smaller, side air intakes. The headlights appear to be production-ready LEDs.

Around the side there isn’t much to note other than the use of camouflage on the rear windows to hide what the interior would look like.

Behind are discreet dual exhaust doors. The rear of this prototype is completely covered in black and white camouflage and has fake tail lights.

The current generation Audi Q5 has been on sale in the country since 2017 and it will be refreshed in 2021.

The Sportback SUV coupe versions of the Q5 and SQ5 entered the domestic market in August 2021.

There is a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel powertrains available locally. Audi Australia is still evaluating the 50 TFSI e and 55 TFSI e PHEV variants of the Q5 and Q5 Sportback.

As of the end of February 2022, Audi has sold a total of 764 Q5 models, which technically makes it the best-selling mid-size luxury SUV.

If you add Mercedes-Benz GLC wagon (554 sales) and GLC coupe (244 sales) although this only edged the Q5 off the top spot.

Q5 outsold things like BMW X3 (677 sales), Lexus NX (Sales 580), Volvo XC60 (Sales of 573), and Porsche Macan (Sales 451).
