2023 Mazda 3 increase in price and power

One of our favorite compressors, Mazda 3is receiving some minor changes for the 2023 model year. Most notably, the naturally aspirated versions will receive a small boost in both horsepower and energy saving. Meanwhile, prices rose across the board for all levels.

Thanks to some tweaking of the inline 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G, the Mazda 3 should now make 191 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. That represents the growth of 5 ponies, while the torque remains the same. Turbo models make the same 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque on 93 octane fuel (227 hp and 310 pound-feet on 87 octane).

Even better, the increase comes with better fuel economy figures due to an improved cylinder decommissioning algorithm. Mazda says it now returns an estimate City 28 mpg and highway 37 mpg, for a total of 31 mpg. Compare that with the 26 city, 35 highway and 30 mpg of the combined outgoing model. If you’re looking for a Mazda 3 with a 2.5-liter non-turbo engine, you’ll probably want to wait.

As for any other trim, you’ll want to buy your car now, as prices are set to rise in 2023. Starting with the sedan, the base 2.0-liter engine has been cut out, making the 2.5 S back. to be the starting point. The $23,615 base price is a $450 increment and includes a $1,065 destination fee. From there, the Select version increases by $500 to $25,015, the $450 Preferred to $26,615, and the Carbon Edition increases by $450 to $28,265. Premium increased by $1,700 to $30,465. Unfortunately, the more affordable 2.5 Turbo version is no longer available, so the only way to get a must-have touch sedan is with the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, which costs $35,065, up $550 from last year. now.

Hatchback 3s have always cost $1,000 more than sedans, and in 2023 they see identical prices in each trim level. However, Mazda continues to offer the hatch in an exclusive 6-speed manual transmission with Premium equipment for $30,215, an increase of $450. Unlike the sedan, the 2.5 Turbo trim level persists for the hatch, and can be had for $33,515, an increase of $550.

Despite these price hikes, the Mazda 3 is still a great car for the money. It compares favorably and in some ways even outstrips selections from European luxury brands like Audi A3. Mazda 3 hatchback in 2023 will come authorized dealer first this fall. The sedan will follow in the winter.
