2023 Aqueduct Winter Meet Stake Schedule Announced


The New York Racing Association announced on December 7 the betting schedule for the 2023 winter meeting in Aqueduct race trackthere will be 25 races worth $3.2 million in the wallet.

The 44-day Big A Winter Encounter begins New Year’s Day, January 1, and runs through March 26, with live races running from Thursday to Sunday until March 26. February 12. From February 17 through the end of winter, the live race will be held Friday through Sunday, with the addition of a special Presidents Day pass on February 20.

Aqueduct winter meet-up bet action begins on New Year’s Day with $150,000 Women’s Bet for fat girls and mares, ages 4 and up at 1 1/8 mile on the main track. Next weekend, January 7, the $150,000 one-mile Jerome Stakes will be the first of three Kentucky Derbys presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) prep races at the winter meeting. Big A. Jerome will provide 10-4-3-2-1 qualifying scores for the top five finishers.

A nine-mile stretch of $100,000 Busanda for 3-year-olds on January 14 will yield 20-8-6-4-2 Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) qualifying points for five finishers head. The winter encounter’s graded betting schedule begins with the $150,000 Toboggan Bet (G3), a seven-stroke sprint for larger horses on January 28.
