2022 Proton Saga MC2 spyshots – new grille, wheels

Today, while out shooting our familiar car review shots in Putrajaya, our resident photographers came across a video production team working around a car fabric cover. Intrigued, they whirled around with their furthest zoom lenses, waiting to catch the discovered hero vehicle.

Once the shoot is over, the vehicle will be shipped to a carrier. Our photographers jumped at the chance to snap a few pictures in and out, now we’ve got our first few shots of the upcoming device. 2022 Proton Saga MC2!

Obviously, many of you have seen leaked photos of the updated sedan taken from inside the factory, so this isn’t a groundbreaking reveal of any kind. However, we at paultan.org always take care not to publish leaked photos taken from such private establishments, so here’s our first hands-on look at the MC2 Saga (second minor change).

Forgive the blur, as we were camping far away – believe us, they weren’t captured with potato cameras; Quite the opposite, really. However, the new grille with Latest circular Proton logo can be seen quite clearly, with the red bow neatly placed underneath it. New shuriken-like alloy wheels can also be made, as well as black side mirrors.

Aside from the obvious changes, the Saga looks pretty much the same as before. The front and rear bumpers and light clusters look unchanged. Those expecting a more complex visual change may be disappointed, but it’s just an exercise in small changes anyway.

Anyway, we already know what to expect beyond a few external updates, thanks to the support of a Leaked documents made rounds earlier this month. The Saga MC2 will receive a new top-of-the-line 1.3L Premium S AT variant, which features new 15-inch wheels, a front bodykit, side skirts, auto-folding rearview mirror and an updated trunk lid with release switch.

Inside, it will get an updated instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery for the steering wheel and seats, keyless entry with push-button start, and sportier-looking black headlights. Again, the game doesn’t change anything, but at least it puts it on par with its only competitor, Perodua Bezza about interior comfort. The new seven-inch floating touchscreen head unit will even surpass that.

Additionally, the 1.3 Standard AT variant is set to receive electronic stability control (ESC), which is big news. The 1.3 Standard MT will at least survive – being the last surviving Proton car with a manual transmission – albeit without the vital electronic assistance.

Anyway, what do you think of the 2022 Proton Saga MC2 – a welcome update, or are the changes too small to make a dent? Comment below!
