2022 Buick Enclave Review | More styles and features doesn’t mean better


The Buick Enclave has been updated for 2022, and it brings some extra style and extra features, nor does it do anything to elevate Buick’s three-row SUV to average for the segment. For the most part, 2022 Buick Enclave like when this generation debuted in 2018. On the plus side, it has a powerful V6 and a smooth transmission. The cabin is extremely spacious and the extra standard safety features are certainly welcome. The base price is also pretty low for a three-row premium SUV at just under $44,000.

The biggest selling point of this Buicks lies in the finer details. The engine is not well insulated, allowing loud noises to enter the cabin. The cabin also doesn’t rise to par with Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti and Volvo – brands that aren’t exactly a high-end shell of luxury, but certainly outstrip Ford, Chevy or Honda. For example, while its controls are easy to use, the buttons and knobs are low-rent and are clearly shared for less. GM Models. What’s new for 2022?

Enclave received many minor updates that mainly consisted of styling changes and feature additions. The exterior has a new design front and rear with new LED lighting front and rear. New wheel design and exterior color also available. Inside, it’s nearly identical to last year’s model except for a new steering wheel, new gearshift knobs, and updated seat design. A host of other features have been added as standard or optional such as a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunshade for the rear sunroof, a front camera, a head-up display. -up, rear pedestrian warning, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera and surround view camera. On the plus side, the Enclave is quite spacious for front and second row occupants in all directions. The front seats are a bit narrow, but very comfortable with supportive foam padding. Available power belt adjustments are also welcome. The second row of seats is a bit flat, but has soft and comfortable cushions. Accessibility to the third row is very good, although the rear seats are quite stiff and upright.

The infotainment system is immediately removed from other GM products. It’s not particularly sharp, but it’s easy to use with a crisp and snappy display. We’re also grateful for the dedicated climate control buttons and knobs, and the volume knob, along with shortcuts for the home screen and for adjusting radio stations or skipping tracks.

How big is the Enclave?

The Enclave competes in the large three-row SUV segment, and for its price point, can be considered alongside Lincoln AviatorInfiniti QX60, Volvo XC90 and Acura MDXplus decorative levels on the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. However, it is larger than all of them and usually by a considerable margin. It’s a huge car, and it feels like being behind the wheel. Of course, that means there’s plenty of space for first and second row occupants. Third-row space isn’t the advantage it used to give the Enclave over other larger three-row SUVs.

Goods space behind the third row is 23.6 cubic feet, the largest in the segment. It became the next largest three-row crossover, the Kia Telluride, was pretty hands-on in our luggage test comparison. Cargo space expands to 57.7 cubic feet with the third row of seats folded and up to 97.4 cubic feet with both rows stowed.

What are the Enclave’s fuel economy and performance specs?

Enclave has only one engine and transmission combination. It has a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Power is transferred to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel drive are available, with the former being more efficient. Fuel economy for the front-wheel drive model is 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 mpg combined. All-wheel drive reduces everything by first mpg to 17 cities, 25 highways and 20 combinations. With one sled package, the Enclave can also tow up to 5,000 pounds.

What kind of car does the Enclave like to drive?

The Enclave is a pretty average SUV to drive. The V6 produces strong power, although it requires a fair amount of revs to get the most out of it. At least it sounds pretty good at those high revs, but at the low end, where you’ll be spending most of your time, it’s rougher and noisier than a premium SUV. The nine-speed automatic transmission is smooth and smooth when shifting, and it engages the gears well. Downshift is prompted when necessary, and it gently shifts to higher gear when it’s time to travel.

Ride quality is for sure. It’s on the firmer side, but it has pretty good body control, only emerging at the strongest impact. The cabin is generally quiet with the exception of some of the aforementioned engine noise and occasional tire noise during a hard crash. In corners, the Enclave exhibits little body roll and has a decent grip. Steering is crippling, but it’s well-weighted and highly accurate.

What is the price of Enclave 2022 and what features does it have?

The base price for the Buick Enclave is $43,995. That’s for the front-wheel drive Essence trim level. Standard exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels, a stainless steel exhaust, LED lighting and heated side mirrors. What are the Enclave safety ratings and driver assistance features?

This refreshed Enclave has yet to be tested by the IIHS or the NHTSA, but it should perform roughly the same as last year’s model. In the IIHS test, Enclave (gets results from its platform companion, Chevy Traverse) received a top “Good” rating of all crash test, although it has not been evaluated for the passenger-side minor overlap test. Its headlights and collision prevention system have also not been evaluated. The child seat’s LATCH anchor access has the second highest “Acceptable” rating. For NHTSA, the government gave Buick an overall rating of five stars. The frontal and hover impact ratings are four stars, and it received five stars for the lateral impact test.
