Fox News video journalist Pierre Zakrzewski and freelance journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova were killed when their vehicle was hit in Ukraine.

Veteran Fox News video journalist Pierre Zakrzewski and freelance journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova were killed outside Kyiv after the vehicle they were traveling in was attacked by flames on Monday, the network reported.
Zakrzewski, who be an Irish citizen, has covered conflict on the ground multiple times for Fox News – including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. He was 55 years old.
In a memo With staff, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott praised Zakrzewski’s unmatched talent and passion.
“His talent is immense and there’s no role he wouldn’t go into to help in the field – from photographer to engineer, editor to producer – and he’s done it all. even under tremendous pressure with tremendous skill,” she said.
Scott praised him for his behind-the-scenes work helping Fox’s Afghan freelancers safely get out of Afghanistan after US forces withdrew from that country.
In a memo sent to employees, Scott said Kuvshynova, also known as “Sasha,” is working as a consultant for Fox News in Ukraine. She is 24 years old.
Scott describes Kuvshynova as “incredibly talented” and says she’s been helping Fox News staffers get around Kyiv and surrounding areas, gathering information and speaking to sources.
“Our team in Ukraine told me that Sasha has a passion for music, art and photography and is a pleasure to work with. Some of our reporters and producers spent long days. to report the news and learn about her, describes her Scott said.
“Her dream was to connect people around the world and tell their stories and she accomplished that through her journalism,” she added.
Scott said the network did not announce the news sooner out of respect for Kuvshynova’s family.
Military Association of Reporters & Editors said in a statement that it is very sorry for the loss of the couple.
The world is a less place without champions for truth, the association said. “We once again call for the protection of journalists in Ukraine so that they can carry out their important work without fear of violence or intimidation.”
The Fox News reporter accompanying them, reporter Benjamin Hall, is still hospitalized in Ukraine. Hall’s condition has yet to be revealed.
On television, Hall denied Fox host Greg Gutfeld’s claim that the Western media was exaggerating conditions in Ukraine to create an emotional response to the Russian invasion. Hall called it “an absolute disaster.”
On Sunday, an American journalist, Documentary filmmaker Brent Renaud, was killed in the fighting in Irpin, on the outskirts of Kyiv. Juan Arredondo, a journalist traveling with Renaud at the time, was injured in the incident.
