Zeekr confirmed for Malaysia – Zeekr X SUV is the first model from the Geely-owned EV brand, followed by the MPV 009?
Zeekr is coming soon to Malaysia! Invitations to a private preview event are currently circulating online and it is said that the event was held at the Grand Hyatt KL this morning.
“This exciting new brand will launch in Malaysia soon. Join us for a morning of discovery and innovation. Zeekr representatives will be on hand to share insights into the company’s vision and its revolutionary products. You will also have the opportunity to watch Zeekr Xa compact luxury SUV, up close,” the invitation said.
Then two things were confirmed – the Geely-owned electric vehicle brand is coming to Malaysia and Zeekr X as a model to begin the brand’s entry into our market.
The Zeekr X sits on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which also underpins the group’s other electric vehicles such as Smart number 1, smart number 3 and Volvo EX30. With a length of 4,450 mm and a width of 1,836 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the X is almost the size of a car. MINI hometownbut has sharp lines and details. I suppose you could call it the future.
The 8 seconds. The AWD system produces 428 PS (315 kW) and 543 Nm of torque, and does the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds. If those numbers sound familiar, they’re shared with the #1 Premium and Brabus smart.
Also shared with the smart is the battery – a 66 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit providing a range of 560 km for RWD and 512 km for AWD. Those are CLTC figures, so expect real-world ranges to be closer to 440 km and 400 km, respectively, as quoted for the smart #1 in the WLTP cycle). The smart device uses 150 kW of DC water, which increases the power bar from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes.
Notable features on the unlock the door. Unusually for such a small car, the X can seat four or five; The car you see here, which we photographed at Bangkok 2024, is the latter.
What’s next from Zeekr? We are betting on the 009, as the EV luxury MPV model is the X’s launch partner in other right-hand drive markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore. With a length of 5,209 mm, width 2,024 mm and height 1,848 mm, the 009 is 199 mm longer, 174 mm wider and 102 mm lower than the previous version. Toyota Alphard/Vellfirewhile the EV’s 3,205 mm wheelbase is 205 mm longer than the standard luxury MPV.
In China, this land yacht has a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a capacity of 544 PS (400 kW) and 686 Nm, capable of propelling this beast from 0-100 km/h in just 4, 8 seconds. Buyers can opt for 116 kWh and 140 kWh NMC batteries that deliver CLTC ranges of 702 and 822 km respectively.
