With that in mind, we asked the experts for their top spring colors (keep reading for a surprise!) so we could incorporate this happy vibe into your home — any time of the year.

Trend #1: Bright shades

It’s no surprise that this spring, designers are forecasting softer colors for both interior paint and decorations. Historically, this is how spring came to be, Christine Borges. “Lighter, muted shades set their appearance and gradually saturate in the summer.” Think lighter colors like blues, greens, pinks, and even yellows. It has nothing to do with actual color and is more about the presence of light.
Trend #2: Whitewashed walls

The size that comes from the whitewashed paint is unparalleled. One of the original paints ever created, mineral-based quicklime lends the walls a chalky, almost cloudy look. According to Regan Baker, founder of Regan Baker Design, the use of a room in this paint will be huge this spring for “not so precious but with enhanced depth and character”. There’s also a nice layer of rust, “as if it’s been around for a while,” she added.
Trend #3: Whites and Whites

With countless color options available, sometimes the most prime color speaks the loudest. In this case, it’s white (as usual). A clean, fresh white, available in both pure white and off-white, is versatile in any space. They add natural light and breathe life into the room. Trend #4: Historical colors

Another spring paint color trend that is on the rise is a range of historic colors, Borges let us know. “Bold yet subtle in tone with a sense of opulence,” these colors – including clay red, muted bush rose, marigold and earthy green – are often reserved for fall. Instead, “this year, we expect them to appear much earlier,” Borges said. “Historical colors tend to provide a sense of permanence and stability, which is a sentiment we believe we all crave.”
Trend #5: Green

“Nearly every paint manufacturer considers green to be the ‘Color of the Year,'” Borges told us. The flow of verdant shades of green has included everything from calmer, softer sages to woods with darker, more saturated greens, she says. The reasons behind this speak for a natural, collective pull to combine the elements that speak for themselves nature and stay calm in the house. While this may not be a new trend, there is a “strong desire for a sense of change and growth,” believes Borge — and green instills that.
Trend #6:…Black

You have read correctly. This spring, this rich color is already in the forecast. Why? It is rich, simple and “unobstructed”, like Christopher Charles Evans describe it. For all its elemental gravity, this rich shade is a huge surprise spring trend this year… and we’re totally on board. Black offers “the sophistication and richness that makes the space inviting and warm.” And we’ll add: A wall painted black forces you to stop, consider, and revel in the moment — that’s a good spell for this season.
