Yamaha Tracer 9 GT recalled due to scooter error
The 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT is being recalled because the throttle clamp can be broken, if used to pull the motorcycle up after it capsized.
The recall affects only 2021 models – manufactured between February 15, 2021 and July 8, 2021 – with NHTSA citing a recall population size of 453 motorcycles.
According to the recall documents, if the throttle is used to pull an overturned motorcycle, the throttle pipe may break in the guide rail due to excessive traction applied to it.
This is because the end of the handle is improperly designed.
If the guide bar is damaged, the damaged part can limit throttle movement during operation, possibly leading to loss of control and an accident.
To remedy this situation, Yamaha dealers will replace the grip and, if necessary, the entire throttle assembly free of charge. The owner’s notice letter is expected to be mailed on March 10, 2022.
Yamaha Tracer 9 GT owners are advised not to operate their motorcycle, except to take it to a dealer, until remedial work is done.
