Xiaomi claims their new battery technology increases battery capacity by 10%: Digital photography review

Xiaomi claims the smaller battery on the right holds the same amount of power as the larger battery on the left.

Electronic manufacturer Xiaomi claims it has developed a new type of battery technology that can pack 10% more capacity into batteries the same size as traditional lithium-ion batteries.

In a post shared on WeiboXiaomi says its Lithium High-Silicon battery technology has three times more silicon on the negative electrodes than current lithium-ion batteries and uses a special layering technique to improve efficiency. According to Xiaomi, this new design offers 10% more power in the same area. While 10% doesn’t sound like much, it’s better than nothing and a welcome jump over current battery technology, which feels as if it’s more or less remained the same over the past few years.

The illustration from Xiaomi shows the packaging of the battery with a piece of copper foil (pictured in orange) running down the middle.

Xiaomi doesn’t say which smartphones we’ll see these new batteries inside, but says it will start mass production in the second half of 2022. If that timeframe proves to be correct Indeed, it is likely that we will see the first of these batteries inside flagship devices as early as 2023 or possibly very late in 2022, depending on whether Xiaomi can cycle the batteries quickly. how.
