Honestly, 2022 is handling me, and it’s not handling me kindly. I am as fragile as a piece of crockery. I was broken, broken, and tired. I have this horrible feeling that there is no help in sight. I am a teacher, a parent of two children (6 years old and 3 years old), a wife, a daughter of my elderly and heavily indebted parents. I am always the head of my household. I run the program. All: chores, finances, appointments, activities, shopping – everything.
My spouse works and goes home “fixing things up” and doing whatever he wants. He grew up with traditional gender roles and it’s hard to break these learned views of women. This year, he’s trying to understand that I can’t do it all, but I feel like men don’t know how to recognize that the load is not equal. I feel like I’m working my butt and it’s invisible.
At school, we short staffing and children are completely unnecessary. When I got home, I tried to keep the chaos organized. I go to bed tired every night. I feel like my life is like a tornado and I’m only happy when I can hit the ground every now and then.
These days I am more forgetful, which is not normal. Working mother there are 15,000 tabs open. Your computer sometimes starts to slow down. I have opened many tabs for too long so processing speed is slowing down.
Ten years ago, I worked three jobs and we bought an apartment. I have paved the way for us financially and socially ever since. In 2014 we needed IVF support to have a baby and although I knew I wasn’t the problem, I endured a horrible year of exams. But I wouldn’t have my beautiful children without her. As one Mother of IVF, I am heartbroken about the Roe capsizing. Sometimes men have to worry about reproductive rights? Men need to have vasectomy if a woman cannot have an abortion. America is falling apart.
