Wilder not committed to his boxing future
Deontay Wilder, former WBC Heavyweight champion has been on leave since the second time lost career to Tyson Fury in October last year.
In an interview with Top boxing champion on Friday, Wilder gave no clear indication that he would return to boxing after an interview.
Wilder, now 37, revealed that he has received messages of support from several fellow heavyweights who are eager for him to return.
“When you get a strong, straight, powerful and exciting heavyweight like myself, boxing is amazing.”
“When you have an exciting heavyweight boxing that thrives. And I am living proof. When you don’t have that heavy weight, not a lot of things start to die. I’ve even had people in heavyweight approach and say, ‘The Championship isn’t the same without you, we need our champion back’. “
“A lot of people have sent messages. ‘Boxing is dead, boxing is bored without him’. Believe me, I always hear it from the top people in the boxing world. “
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ was recently the recipient of a life-size statue in his honor at an event in Wilder’s hometown, Tuscaloosa. The knockout expert hinted at the time that he would return but never committed to agreeing or not.
“I’m definitely considering coming back.”
“This is what we are looking for. I felt my career was revived and returned to people when they presented my statue.”
“It’s just a happy moment for me right now. I’m so lucky and I’m so happy and I’m at peace. I am in a great position in life. I’m living my dream, not the American dream, but my dream.”
Being one of the hardest hit heavyweights of all time means you’re always a hottie. Should Wilder decide to return to the ring, there will be no shortage of big fights available with Dillian Whyte, Andy Ruiz Jr, Otto Wallin and the underdog. Joshua vs Usyk all options.
