Wilder is back! Frank Warren reveals the bronze bomber’s return opponent
Frank Warren has revealed that former WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will return in October.
In the other corner, according to Tyson Fury’s co-promoter, will be Robert Helenius ‘Nordic Nightmare’.
Speaking on talkSPORT DriveWarren initially said Wilder would take on Joe Joyce’s recent opponent, Christian Hammer, but soon corrected the mistake.
“Well, Deontay will be fighting in October – he will be back. He had a bad knockout, no doubt about it, it was a bad knockout against Tyson, it was an uphill fight for him. “
“He’s fighting the big guy, the big Scandinavian – sorry my brain is gone – I’m having a senior time. It will come to me in a minute. “
Co-host Andy Goldstein then asked if he wanted to talk about Robert Helenius.
“Sorry, I’m sorry. The Finnish guy, yes, that’s a real person. “
Finnish media have also reported that the former European heavyweight champion will have his next big fight, but 38-year-old coach Markus Sundman will not reveal who will be up against.
Since losing to Gerald Washington in 2019, Helenius has won three in a row to breathe new life into her career. Those wins include impressive comeback wins over Adam Kownacki in March 2020 and against Fury-Wilder 3.
Wilder, 37, has been out of the ring since losing to Fury that night in Las Vegas. The War of the Year contenders was a real heavyweight competition with each man visiting the picture but in the end ‘King Gypsy’ won with a score of 11order knockout match.
It’s been nine months since Wilder enjoys life away from the ring and on June 19 released a musical single called ‘Everytime’ with his brother Marsellos. Six days later ‘Bronze Bomber’ was interviewed by top boxing champions and during the chat, “The Bronze Bomber” declined to confirm whether he will rematch.
“I am definitely considering coming back. This is what we are looking into.”
