Do we have an award program problem?
Earlier this week, Nicki Minaj spoke out against the Recording Academy for taking her hit “Super Freaky Girl” out of the Grammy rap category and making it a pop track. While her social media posts caused a stir, the 39-year-old rapper made it clear that she would still attend the biggest night of music if she received the nomination.
“Yes, why not? I’m not a coward,” she said in an exclusive interview with E! News’ Justin Sylvester. “I feel like I’m in a really good space and so why not? Why not wear a nice dress and cover up my big boobs and show off my old big ass. Why not go? and show it off?”
But what about Nicki’s recent Instagram story claiming she’s unhappy with the Recording Academy? According to the artist, social media posts are not as serious as some people think.
“I think sometimes people think I’m ‘angrier’ than I am,” she said. “I can be hot-tempered about something right now or this moment and five minutes from now, I’ll forget what I just talked about.”
