A new episode of the beloved podcast aired Thursday night and — at one point while they sat down — Trina opened up to Yung Miami about a situation in her past relationship that involved incompatibility. Water.
Trina Reminds Viewers They’re In Control, Not Scammers: ‘Only You Can Play You’
Trina begins by pointing out that people have complete control over how they react to certain situations. Thus, rapper “BR Right” says, “No one can play you — only you can play you.”
“You pick and choose what you want to tackle and how you want to tackle it. No one can play you – only you can play you. You will never be able to play.
She went on to add, “The way you handle your situation is how you handle your situation…You do what you need to do for you.”
So while it’s easy to focus on other people’s actions, Trina reminds us to stand firm and do what’s best for ourselves.
Trina prepared for four months before cutting off her ex because of an affair
After this small talk, Trina shared a personal experience in which this prospect was put to the test. Specifically, Trina revealed that, after learning about her partner’s affair, she waited 4 months before calling him.
“Now when I start in a relationship, [there] is infidelity. This is ‘I’m living with you, we’re getting married’ – this is a completely different feeling. And he lied. I found out…I know four months [before confronting him].”
She goes on to explain her reasoning, noting that — while she’s ready to go “crazy,” she has to come back for her own good.
“I had to think, it’s really real. In a situation like this, what would you do? [Because] if I told you I found out what you did right now, everything would be over. Am I ready to end it? I’m not ready…so I have to play these cards properly.”
As a result, Trina “sits there” for 4 months and only focuses on “trying to be the best [she] maybe.”
The rapper also certainly points out that, even though she’s “the character of ‘The Baddest B***h,” she’s just “Katrina” when it comes to her personal life and relationships.
She summed up the situation by outlining the current predicament: “How can I say that I know you’re cheating and it’s not over yet? [when] I’m not ready for it to end?”
So Trina bit her tongue in the name of mentally preparing to cut things off, as it was the best option for her at the time.
