Who Wears What Podcast: Nell Diamond
Do you think it would be feeling like it was?
We launched The Nap Dress in 2019 and the business started in 2016. The first few years of the business were really focused on very low and slow growth. Really profitable, responsible, find out what is the unique product that fits our market. That involves a lot of new product testing.
In particular, with The Nap Dress, we launched it, I think it was in June 2019. I didn’t expect this at all. Absolutely did not expect this, and I am the biggest planner. I love an Excel spreadsheet. I’ve filled up my Google Calendar. I needed to know what I was doing in a 10-minute period, but at the same time, I always joked that we wanted to leave some space for Jesus.
We want to see what happens. Let things live a little in the world. With The Nap Dress, we have prototypes. I obsessed. Outside haunted.
I know what this product will mean for me in life. At the same time, I think I’m rational enough to know that it could just be me. If people don’t like it, that’s okay, because I’ll figure out how to make a small enough quantity that me and the three other girls in my office, we’ll wear it and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t. someone else likes it.
Then we bring it up. Over the next two years or so, every time we launched new Nightgowns, they sold out.
It’s sure to be a very exciting and humbling couple of years ahead as news of the dress itself spreads.
