h / t be.nice As global demand for coal soars, the shortage of coal miners is the biggest obstacle to the growing coal industry’s renaissance.
Coal mines struggle with labor shortages as demand soars around the world
In Benwood, West Virginia, Money Comes coal go out.
“They couldn’t exploit it fast enough,” said Frank Longwell, Benwood Economic Development Manager. “That’s how we pay our bills here in the community.” [bold, links added]
Longwell remembers when mine so popular that they turned down job applicants. You can make $100,000 a year mining coal in Benwood.

Chinese leaders are “Double on fossil fuels “in the face of growing “concern” about global energy shortages and “increasing” concerns about an economic slowdown, according to the report. Bloomberg. The news comes after the Chinese government repeatedly emphasized the importance of energy security at a series of important political meetings last week.上 微 信 关注
While, International Energy Agency (IEA) speak last week that China was the main driver of global CO2 emissions “recovering” to past pre-pandemic levels. Separately, a Chinese government energy adviser told state television that China’s CO2 emissions increased by 350 million tons last yearmore than double the average annual increase in recent years.
As WUWT reported yesterday, India also joins the coal production raceplan announcement increase coal production by 400 million tons in the next two yearsand double coal use by 2040. Coal production of 400 million tons will increase increase global CO2 emissions by 1.5 billion tons per year.
Obviously this is part of a big carbon conspiracy to stop renewables, right? Those idiots, don’t they realize Renewable energy is the cheapest form of new construction electricity?
I mean it’s certainly not possible that greens have lied all about the viability and cost of renewables, and countries like India and China have warned that greens have been peddling trash all the time. past time, both the declaration of a climate emergency and their useless green energy “solution”?
Do I need the tag/sarcasm?
The sad part of this story is that a lot of coal workers in West Virginia and elsewhere are mining being shipped to Asia, to India and to China. This is great news for coal miners in West Virginia, but what about everyone else?
Imagine how resilient the American economy would be if American workers were free to join low-cost manufacturing, if that cheap coal was shipped to American manufacturers.
Sadly, the deviant economic policies of our zero-obsessed hypocritical politicians are smothering this opportunity.
Instead of competing directly with the manufacturing boom in Asia, US workers are increasingly frozen and forced to stay on the sidelines. Our hypocritical politicians are still facilitating the use of coal, coal is still burning, but the production boom fueled by the burning of all export coal is doing mostly for the people Others become rich.
