Several blog readers asked me about the impact of the dumping on Ukraine. Where will it go? Is it possible that the Northwest is in the fire zone?
We are talking about fallout from a nuclear device, radioactive leakage from a damaged nuclear plant, or poison associated with chemical or biological weapons.
To explore this interest, I created an air trajectory – showing the three-dimensional path of air parcels – starting from Ukraine at three levels (6000, 7000 and 8000 ft above sea level). This corresponds to 20,000 ft, 23,000 ft and 26000 ft ASL). This work was done with NOAA’s online HYSPLIT model and assumed the “event” occurred at 11 a.m. today and followed the trajectory for 240 hours.
My mouth fell open at the sight of the plot: the two lower orbits went right over Washington State (see upper table below).
But the worst part is: the lowest orbits descend to the surface in the second half of their journey.
