WhatsApp is bringing new cool features including a new app sidebar and status replies.
An instant messaging client owned by Meta Platforms, WhatsApp continues to bring new features to improve the user experience. The app is said to be working on a new feature for Windows Beta that will allow users to send status replies as well as an app sidebar. The new development has been reported by the WhatsApp development tracker Wabetainfo. The report says WhatsApp is rolling out the feature to the most recent 2.2240.1.0 update that was released last week to some beta testers. However, users will still not be able to create new status updates.
The report reads, “WhatsApp is bringing this feature to the most recent update 2.2240.1.0 released last week to a number of beta testers.” It added, “This is not the only new feature included in the latest update. In fact, a lot of users notice that a new app sidebar appears after installing an update from Microsoft Store and it’s very similar to what we see in Mac Catalyst application. With this new app sidebar, users will be able to access their status updates, settings, and profiles.
WaBetaInfo also shared a screen of the upcoming feature showing the same. Screenshots are taken from WhatsApp Windows beta, but the feature is expected to roll out to WhatsApp Windows beta.
Last month, WhatsApp also released two important features to the WhatsApp beta for Windows – the ability to react to messages using any emoticonalready available on WhatsApp for Android, iOS, Desktop and other apps one is to view status updates.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp recently rolled out admin removal and status updates in chat lists for more beta testers. This will allow users to see status updates right in the chat list.
That’s not all, WhatsApp is also planning to include iMessage-like profile pictures in group chats. Once the feature goes live to beta testers, the profile pictures of other group participants will show up next to all incoming messages in the group chat.
