The Cowboys are playing an unusually high number of Thursdays in 2021. They play on Thursdays for the third time in Week 13, but hard to believe it’s only the third time they’ve played on “Thursday Night Football” .
The first Thursday night game of the season for the Cowboys comes in Week 1. That game between them and the Buccaneers is technically a “Sunday Night Football” game broadcast by NBC. Last week, the Cowboys played their familiar Thanksgiving Day game. That was broadcast on CBS and took place in the afternoon.
Now, they Final play both on Thursday and in “Thursday Night Football.” They are playing against another team that played on Thanksgiving – the Saints – in a clash between two teams that are going through tough losses.
Both teams can also be beaten this week. Cowboys will be without coach Mike McCarthy after testing positive for COVID. The Saints are facing multiple injuries and will likely switch to their midfield. Taysom Hill can replace a struggling Trevor Siemian – if Hill is healthy enough to do so.
The Saints need a win to keep hope of their Wild Card alive while the Cowboys can use the win to keep some distance between them and the booming Washington Soccer Team. We’ll find out if they can do it starting at 8:20 p.m. ET at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, La.

NFL Week 13 Schedule
Game Saints vs. The Cowboys will begin Week 13 of the NFL action. Both competing teams played and lost on Thanksgiving with the Cowboys falling in stoppage time to the Raiders and the Saints being blown away by the Bills. New Orleans is planning to break ground on Taysom Hill this week – if healthy – to possibly change things up a bit for them.
Other prime time slot games in Week 13 will be some intriguing divisional clashes. The Broncos are set to take on the captains in a primetime “Sunday Night Football” game against the Seahawks-49ers. The Captain (7-4) is one match ahead of the other three teams in the AFC West and will stay that way while their first win-win battle of the last 11 matches the Captain.
“Monday Night Football” will feature the Patriots and Bills in Buffalo. This match will determine which team has a place in the next round for first place in the AFC East, although this year there are still two Patriots-Bills matches.
Elsewhere, the Cardinals returned to bid farewell to the Bears while the Lions 0-10-1 sought their first home win over the Vikings.
