What is the worst race car of all time?
If you are thinking about the most successful race car of all time, your mind can jump straight to Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2004, winning his fifth consecutive F1 driver’s championship. Or, you can think of the Mercedes W11 that helped Lewis Hamilton win his seventh world championship.
But not every race car out there can be as dominant as these two machines. Instead, the few remaining fight around the last group with no hope of ending up anywhere near the point. So on any form of motorsport you can think of, what do you think is the worst racing car of all time?
There are a lot of pretty bad options for you to choose from. If you are a fan of the rally, you can think about that time Daihatsu decides he wants to let his car into his city of Cuore Try your hand at loose surface racing. Predictably, this 68hp kei doesn’t run too well in off-road.
And what about time Citroen submitted his ID19 race? That was never destined to end well for the family-sized sedan.
When I think of bad racing cars, I always think of two pretty fast racing cars. The first is the Honda Earth Car, which raced F1 in 2007; it looks cool but it runs really bad. And second, any conversation about slow F1 drivers will definitely return to Caterham 2014. A car, for me, easily the ugliest car ever in an F1 race.
Running in the team’s final season in the sport, the CT05 was a pretty bad racer. During the 2014 season, Indy 500 winner, Marcus Ericsson and Kamui Kobayashi never scored any points, with the highest finish being 11th.
The two cars have also reached the milestone of 12 retirements through 19 races. Not a great look for the team.
But that’s just my choice, what would you go for? Head to the comments section below and let us know your recommendations for the worst race car of all time.
