What is the best Otome Switch game?
The Nintendo Switch has become a great home for the otome genre, with dozens of releases for fans to play. But which one is the best? Below are the selections of Siliconera employees. Let us know yours in the comments!
I mean, it depends on the genre.
If someone wants a more traditional otome game, visual novel Cafe Enchante To be my favorite recent release. The characters are very funny. It carefully treads the lines between literary genres. The result is a lovable cast of characters and stories that can have both silly plot twists and dramatic, romantic moments.
If someone wants to go non-traditional? I have to go with Rune Factory 4 Special. Hey, you can farm! You can fight! You can romance a variety of men and women! The latest version has added new short stories after you get married, as well as DLC that deals with short stories from the lovers’ point of view. – Jenny
I’m going to follow in Jenni’s footsteps and pick up a slightly unique Switch otome, and that game is Stardew Valley. Like Rune FactoryI really like that in between giving my future mate all the random stuff I find during the day, I can also farm, explore mines, decorate and try to learn anglers.
Otome games often have a single focus, which removes a lot of the replayability factor for me. I don’t often find myself wanting to go back and complete every romance and end, as the journey there tends to feel too similar. With each Stardew Valley save the file I create, I can romance another person in town while also progressing in the game with a completely different style of play. There’s always something to do. It makes the emotional aspect like a treat after a 20-minute hard day and rock-smashing. – Dani
My love affair with otome games started with Hakuoki on Nintendo DS. But I was exhausted when the series started to feel extremely repetitive. Even though I’ve played around here and there with others like Funny boyfriend and Sweet fuseuntil Jenni convinced me Payment procedures Collar x Malice For Siliconera, passion was rekindled. The thrilling mystery corner is just what this sassy soul needs to dive back into the otome’s swimming pool. – Annette
