Week 15 Fantasy Bust: Rhamondre Stevenson, Miles Sanders among players venturing on start-or-miss bubble

The bye weeks are over, so while having all the active players in the table for Week 15 is mostly a good thing, there will be more risky pitfalls to fall into. Otherwise, you should have enough options to avoid the risky players on our Week 15 fantasy bust list – assuming you’re not ravaged by COVID and traumatized. We’ll be covering picks that start at the border, such as Rhamondre Stevenson and Miles Sanders, who haven’t been in for weeks and are in tough games, as well as Carson Wentz and Marquise Brown, who who has cooled down in recent weeks.

As always, even longtime stars can go bust in favorable matches, but it’s hard to call superstars “bust” unless they’re less than 100%, they’re actually trending. direction goes down or they have a particularly brutal match. We mostly stick to naming the guys on the bubble who are just starting out or right away, not the guys who are simply going to have a good but not great week or the guys who are over 90% renunciation. Of course, we were wrong about some men, like Odell Beckham Jr., Saquon Barkley and Jimmy Garoppolo, but we were more right than wrong over the weekend, so hopefully, we’ll start a series hot day as we jump into the fantasy knockout.

Week 15 Bust Illusion: Run Back

Miles Sanders, Eagles vs. Washington (Jackson Sparks). Washington has one of the worst second-place teams in the league, but quietly, team seven is strong and its defense ranks as number 12 against fantasy RBs. Sanders (ankle) could start the game as “problematic”, so even if he does, he will be disqualified and will be on a committee with a mix of Jordan Howard, Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell. There are too many red flags here to trust Sanders in the fantasy playoffs.

Chuba Hubbard, Panthers @ Bills (Vinnie Iyer). Buffalo tried harder to run towards the end of the game, but this was a game that benefited the defence.

Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots @ Colts (Matt Lutovsky). Regardless of whether or not Damien Harris (ankle) is back, Stevenson reckons he will get some good touches. He was produced in that role, but the Colts were resilient against the run all year, allowing a fifth least fantasy score for the RBs. If Harris plays, Stevenson has low floors and ceilings. If Harris is absent, he is at best a volume-based, low-ceilinged man.

Week 15 Fantasy Football Bust: The Quartet

Carson Wentz, Colts vs. Patriots (Sparks). Wentz has had some surprising successes this year, but against New England we won’t include him in the squad. In all likelihood, this is going to be a head-to-head battle for both sides, so expect a shortened, defense-focused matchup. Even if the Colts manage to get through, it will ultimately be a failed attempt in a game with a No 2 defense against imaginary QBs.

Russell Wilson, Seahawks @ Rams (Iyer). This is a bad match for Kyler Murray, and Russ may be seeing some of the same dangers as Aaron Donald and friends. He might also have nightmares about how he hurt his mallet finger in front of LA.

Ryan Tannehill, Titans @ Steelers (Lutovsky). You may not need encouragement to keep Tannehill on your bench, but with the way Steelman’s defense has been struggling lately, you might think he’s a good night’s sleeper. You’re not necessarily wrong, but in the end, Tannehill is a big risk in a win or lose week. The Steelers are weaker on the run, and we all know Tennessee likes to hit the ground and show the way to victory. Tannehill has averaged just 192.6 passes and 1.4 touchdowns per game in his past five competitions.

Week 15 Fantasy Football League: Wide Receiver

Marquise Brown, Ravens vs. Packers (Sparks). As of Week 10, Marquise Brown is the WR40 in PPR tournaments. Serious. He doesn’t have to start anymore, especially when you consider that Lamar Jackson (ankle) could come out against the Packers. Tyler Huntley regularly targets Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman on his way to a good day in Week 14, and Brown seems like the odd man out. After all, his output has plummeted since Bateman joined the roster. We hope you enjoyed his early-season breakout, but it’s over and we don’t think it’s coming back in a neutral game against Green Bay.

DK Metcalf, Seahawks @ Rams (Iyer). Calling “Decaf” a bankruptcy applies to the entire season. He doesn’t suddenly turn good against a likely Jalen Ramsey to return.

Michael Pittman Jr., Colts vs. Patriots (Lutovsky). The Pittman is the Colts’ #1 receiver, and while that usually translates to decent volume, production can be slow, even during favorable matches. How bad is this, and the last time he faced an elite passing defense (Buffalo), he was trailing two catches by 23 yards. Don’t take risks.

Week 15 Fantasy Football Busts: Tight Ending

Noah Fant, Broncos and Bengals (Sparks). Fant has been in production as a low-end TE2 for the past few weeks, and even in a tie-up to a tight finish against the Bengals, we had complete confidence in any Broncos catchers in the mix. This old pass is led by Teddy Bridgewater.

Dallas Goedert, Eagles vs. Washington (Iyer). WFT somehow really covered the position well, so he’ll be back to break after bye.

Tyler Conklin, Vikings @ Bears (Lutovsky). Conklin has always been a contender for a big play – and he’ll have occasional high-target games – but he’s nowhere near a consistent fantasy producer. Even without Adam Thielen (ankle), Conklin couldn’t be trusted against a Bears defense that allowed a sixth-lowest fantasy score for the TEs.

Week 15 Fantasy Busts: Defense

Carolina Panthers @ Bills (Spark). Buffalo is a tough game for any D/ST, and since Carolina only looks like an “elite” defense in easy games, this isn’t the place to count on them. Buffalo can score 40 points here and no one should be surprised.

Minnesota Vikings @ Bears (Iyer). They have good numbers and the Bears have been and are giving, but being on the road to primetime versus Justin Fields looks like a big failure trap.

Baltimore Ravens and Packers (Lutovsky). Baltimore is still heavily owned, so it’s clear that there are owners who are thinking of starting Raven. It’s not a great idea to counter Green Bay’s dynamic offense, especially with injuries severely limiting Baltimore’s floor and ceiling (just four points in the past six games).
