We chat with Jack Miller about the preparation and planning of The Bend

Trev: Jack, thanks for coming and adding some flavor to our ASBK finale. Are you satisfied with your preparation for this time?

Jack Miller: “Yeah pretty much, I mean we did quite a bit of work around the house this year. Buy a trailer, buy a bike, get everything organized, give my mate Frank a decent job to do, build three different bikes from three different manufacturers. So he’s had a long learning curve, but it’s amazing how it all comes together and does it all on his own. With the help of so many people in the industry, they gave us some tips on what to do with each bike. That’s really nice, but it’s great to have all the boys riding bikes there, and just a good group of people who want to go motor racing.”

Trev: And what’s the thinking behind doing it all yourself, instead of just renting a Honda Penrite for Hooky, renting a bike from Ben (Henry – DesmoSport Ducati) or Craig (McMartin – Boost Mobile Ducati) and make your life easy?

Jack: “Yes, but that’s the challenge, not so much here and motor racing, it’s the goal that leads to it all, the idea of ​​getting it all ready and getting the bike, doing all the things I love and having a together. got some cool looking motorcycles. let us race. That’s its challenge, you know. I mean I don’t want to say I’m bored, but it gives me something to do, something to go on and I think people will enjoy it. I had a bit of fun with it, and you know Franko, my mate, he definitely had a lot of work on it, so it was great.

Trev: And Thriller Motorsports, I guess you’re starting to build a bit of a brand there, so what is the end game with that, are you going to run a team or something?

Jack: “There’s no real end game, I mean we need a team to be our own, so that’s the thing behind that. We’ve set up a commodity company in Australia, Thriller Industries, so I guess it’s just a spin-off of that company. We had to name the team and make Madi the team manager, so it would be easier.

Trev: Do you have to test drive the bike before this weekend?

Jack: “No.”

Trev: You have a plan too, right?

Jack: “I had already decided, we were late, I had to go to a wedding last weekend. Honestly, I’d love to go to The Island and cycle there, but I’ve got a wedding, so no bike rides except Frank down the street at home, so we’ll find out. understand tomorrow how good they all get on.

Trev: I have to say that you like to make your own life difficult. So what about for Jack later? Time off, and then ready for training, and then test?

Jack: “Pretty much, a little respite, we’re going to New Zealand for Christmas to see the protests there, and spend Christmas with them, and that’s it, get ready for the new year. It’s been a new challenging year, so I’m very excited. The first test went very well and definitely left me very hungry and had a lot to think about during the winter.”
