Patterson opened his eyes (and made fantasy owners very happy) in 2021. Wideband receivers and rock-recoverers have been used in a lot of roles for the Falcons in Arthur’s offense. Patterson listed as third chain safe on the official Falcons depth chart for Week 13 versus Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The Falcons head coach recently agreed to Patterson’s desire to play defensively, and that seems likely to be the case this weekend.

Smith talks about Patterson after Atlanta’s Week 12 win over the Jaguars. “I could put him in the depth chart next week with free safety.”
Smith, apparently, made good on his word.
