“Wakatobi’s House Reef” by Pam Osborn

If you’ve read about the amazing diving and photography opportunities at Wakatobi Resort—In these pages or elsewhere — you’ve most likely seen the work of Pam and Wayne Osborn, award-winning photographers who consider Wakatobi their favorite dive spot. While Wayne has done more than 400 dives on Wakatobi’s reefs in pursuit of his photographic goals, Pam has spent more than 1,000 hours snorkeling on the resort’s famous reef, focusing into its shallow treasures.

Pam’s photography efforts have brought many awards and are now on display in a new, aptly titled book. Wakatobi’s House Reef. This visually stunning piece of work, spanning many years in the making, is all the more remarkable because all the images featured in the book were created without the use of diving equipment. Pam spent many trips to Wakatobi managing the material in the book. The best part? You can download one for free here.

The book begins with a dedication to the staff of Wakatobi Resort, who Pam says are integral to creating the piece. “Wakatobi’s commitment to the health of the ecosystem and the well-being of the surrounding community is impressive,” she said. “It is amazing to see the positive effects the resort has on the local economy and the marine environment. As a visitor, you feel your money has contributed to the sustainability of the area.”

If you’d like to explore Wakatobi’s spectacular coral reefs on your own — whether snorkeling or scuba diving — visit the resort’s website and make an investigation.
