A video shot at a UPS store in Florida went viral after capturing an argument between a customer and a delivery driver.
The UPS employee was clearly an animal lover, who wasn’t afraid to express his anger at the sight he witnessed on a scorching day. After seeing a man with fangs in a hot car, he told him exactly how he felt.
When interviewed, the cameraman explained that when the UPS employee approached the scene, he expressed anger and asked the cameraman to record what he witnessed. The video only captures the beginning and end of the conversation between the two men, but it is enough to set the scene.
Prior to recording, both the UPS driver and cameraman witnessed a dog being left in a car for nearly 20 minutes on a 93-degree day while the owner was inside the store. The dog’s owner didn’t even let the windows crack, the air conditioning didn’t work either.
In the video, the owner is getting into his car when you hear the UPS employee shouting, “You don’t deserve that dog!!”
Frankly, the UPS employee justified his outrage. The Florida heat is not to be taken lightly, and leaving your dog in the car can have serious consequences. Cars can quickly heat up 20 degrees above the outside temperature within minutes, and both witnesses claim the dog has been in the car for quite some time.
It is extremely dangerous to leave a dog in your car with the air conditioner running, which is exactly why Florida law protects rescuers of “vulnerable persons or domestic pets.” ” from civil liability if they broke the window to rescue them. When interviewed, the UPS employee shared that he was ready to do exactly what the owner approached.
In many states, it’s illegal to leave a dog in a car, and even breaking the windows doesn’t eliminate the danger. Dogs’ ability to cool their bodies is limited to panting, and that’s not always enough to bring down their temperature when locked in a hot car.
