United launches limited edition Polaris ice cream

If your upcoming travel includes a segment in United Polaris business class, you may want to bring your own sweets.

That’s because the Chicago-based carrier is updating its popular ice cream sundae service with a new limited-time treat: the so-called “United Polaris x Tillamook Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sundae.”

This new ice cream sundae option is available through July 31 as part of the dessert offering for passengers flying United Polaris business class on international long-haul flights.

United says the ice cream was inspired by the popularity of strawberries this season, with people enjoying them in matcha lattes and using them as inspiration for their makeup looks.

Because the ice cream is made at your seat, you can order as much or as little of each type of ice cream as you like. Note that United’s various dessert platters, as well as signature cheese and fruit platters, will still be available as after-dinner treat alternatives.

Serving ice cream sundaes at the end of business class meals has become a tradition on US airlines. For years, American has partnered with Haagen Dazs to create delicious ice creams in the sky. Note that American does not offer ice cream trucks; rather, the crew will create the concoction in the galley to your request.

Delta also offers ice cream in business class on long-haul flights; however, the airline regularly rotates selections and traditional cakes are not always available.

United also serves ice cream in the Premium Plus cabin on long-haul flights, but the airline does not offer its signature ice cream service there.
