DPG is devastated to learn about tragic passing by Italian underwater photographer David Salvatori in a diving accident off the coast of Sicily over the weekend. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies with his wife is Maria Cristina di Palma, his family and friends.
A charming, well-respected and much-admired shooter, David has been awarded numerous memorable images and is known for sharing his knowledge with his fellow photographers. . In 2019, he captured the winning photo of the World Oceans Day Photo Contest organized by DPG — powered by Fascinating account of the story behind the picture—And in 2020, for the later edition of the competition, he generously lent his expertise by joining the jury.
David is so passionate about protecting marine life that he has excellent photography, and his book Scatti Sommersi (Submerged photo), part of a series on Italian masters of underwater photography, published just a few months ago. I have the pleasure of writing a few words in the preface to the book, and as a reward for my much-appreciated efforts, I look forward to enjoying David’s favorite beer—“a small, excellent product.” from Sicily!” – with him have a good day…
