Mr. Guterres .’s comments come when he reveals his new initiative to develop stronger standards for the “zero net” commitments of partners below the national government level, in the fight against climate change.

To me, this is one of the clearest examples of how the United Nations is not relevant to the needs of ordinary people.
This year can be very difficult. This year’s global grain harvest could be reduced by 25%, 25% usually coming from Ukraine. Ukraine may have missed their optimal sowing time, their short but fierce growing season is hard to forgive delays.
In addition, Ukraine and Russia are major fertilizer producers. Upcoming fertilizer prices could disrupt the ability of farmers outside of war zones to cover shortages caused by crop failures in Ukraine.
In this desperate situation, we should seize any small advantage that can help us feed the hungry.
Excess CO2 emissions are potentially an advantage
CO2 is a plant fertilizer. Even NASA admits the world is green, thanks to man-made CO2.
I doubt a year’s excess emissions will make much of a difference. But in times like these, the last thing we should do is try to cut excess CO2 emissions. Even a small difference can save lives.
But the UN is ignoring all of this. In the process of caring about climate change, they seem to be completely oblivious to the changing needs of those who provide them with funds.
The solution is obvious.
