Ultima Grace returns to KY Downs after Queen Mary Fade

Ahead of the $1.5 million Gun Runner Stakes on September 8, Kentucky Downs will host this race with three $1 million youth prizes, all of which are overage prizes.

Stakes at Kentucky Downs, an all-grass racetrack in the southern part of the state along the Tennessee border, include allowances for horses raised in Kentucky. Horses not raised in the Bluegrass State race for smaller but still significant prizes. The prizes are huge at Kentucky Downs because of the increased revenue from historic horse racing and the track only operating seven days a year.

The Untapable Stakes for 2-year-old mares at 6 1/2 furlongs includes several recent sprint race winners, along with For the People Racing Ultimate Grace . Daughter of American Pharaoh is one Keeneland maiden winner in April, who will continue racing in the United States after leading and dropping to 20th place in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) on June 19 at Royal Ascot for trainer Wesley Ward. She races the horse with blinders.

The young mares will run the extra distance in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes at a distance of one mile.
