Prime Minister Boris Johnson held talks in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
A Number 10 spokesman said the prime minister was using the visit to devise a new package of financial and military support for the country.
At a news conference where Mr Johnson praised the bravery of Ukrainians, he also said: “I have no doubt that an independent sovereign Ukraine will rise again.”
